I found this book when retweeting the add on my Twitter account. I noticed the title and the subject and thought hey, this could also be something I would enjoy. And I did. I had never before read any Dragon-erotica, and I was curious to see how it would pan out.
Saelee was a girl destined to be sacrificed to the dragon. She did not know whether she was going 'to be eaten, mated or whatever,' as she put it. She was already in an intense sexual relationship with her servant Vivian. The dragon turns out not to want to eat her, but they soon get into a deep sexual relationship, both in real life and in dreams. I am never a big fan of dreams in books, but in this case, it turned out hot.
Overall the story is a bit sloppy. The use of magic seemed to be unlimited, and Saelee controlled her new abilities when it was most convenient. For five stars it should have been just a little bit more thought out and edited.
Apart from this critique, the Dragon's Mate is an amazing read. It's fun, hot and fast-paced. The characters were well-formed, and the immersion into the fantasy world was complete. I'd definitely recommend this author, and I'm looking forward to reading more of her stories!
Very enjoyable read, contains everything you could want in a fantasy; kings, dragons, drama and a damsel in distress. Not your everyday erotic adventure, just better! A very very good tale by a very talented writer!
